Desmond Trufant had an impressive Senior Bowl – where did he go in this Senior Bowl only Mock Draft?

Everyone loves mock drafts and everyone loves seeing which prospects will be available to them when their team is on the clock. However, what would the draft look like if it was made up only of players who played in the Senior Bowl?
After watching all 100+ players this week in Mobile, AL I decided to put together a mock draft using only the players who participated in the Senior Bowl week festivities.

** A few notes** I didn’t take team need into much account. It’s more based on performance in Mobile. I also have included a few players who pulled out of the Senior Bowl earlier in the week. If they practiced once or were here for media night, I count that as being here.
1. Kansas City Chiefs – Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
Fisher was the best player down in Mobile, dominating just about all comers. Fisher projects to be the prototypical left tackle. I’m not a proponent of the Chiefs taking Joeckel in the real draft, but for the sake of this I will give them the left tackle prospect.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars – Datone Jones, DE, UCLA
Jones was the best pass rusher in the Senior Bowl. He was the only player giving Fisher problems, beating him with inside power moves. Jones can play 4-3 DE and kick inside to rush from the 3-Tech in certain situations. This kid is going to make it. Trust me.
3. Oakland Raiders – Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas
Wilson wasn’t the fourth best player in Mobile, but being the top QB elevates you up the board. It looked to me like Wilson cleaned up his arm slot since the end of his season and has been working on his feet.
4. Philadelphia Eagles – Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
Trufant was the best corner in Mobile. He competed ferociously against each WR and contested just about every pass attempt. Trufant can play slot and outside cornerback which makes him a valuable asset.
5. Detroit Lions – Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
Johnson wasn’t as dominate as Fisher, but he was still very good. He displayed quick feet, good extension and good flexibility. After his performance down here, he is solidly in the first round.
6. Cleveland Browns – Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech
Patton along with Oregon St. WR Markus Wheaton have been at the top of the receiving class. Patton has great hands and body control and can impact the passing game at each level. The team that gets him is getting an impact receiver that can play in the slot or outside for years to come.
7. Arizona Cardinals – Mike Glennon, QB, North Carolina State
Just like with Tyler Wilson, Glennon isn’t the seventh best player at the Senior Bowl. He is however the best QB on the North team and threw the best deep ball of any QB down here. He’s a big pocket passer, who impressed this week with his ball placement and touch of the veritcal pattern.
8. Buffalo Bills - Markus Wheaton, WR, Oregon State
Wheaton was productive from the minute he stepped on the field in Mobile. He showed explosive route running and big play ability. He snatches the ball out of the air and will be a player teams find ways to get the ball to.
9. New York Jets – Arthur Brown, LB, Kansas State
Brown pulled out of the Senior Bowl early on due to a shoulder injury (he was cleared, but Senior Bowl wouldn’t let him play) but, he stuck around long enough to sell teams on the person. Even though Brown couldn’t practice he was taking mental reps and was seen in Coach Dennis Allen’s ear at times.
10. Tennessee Titans – Larry Warford, OG, Kentucky
Warford dominated in 1 on 1 drills, just stonewalling quicker pass rushers. Once he locked on he was able to anchor and stop them in their tracks. He needs sustain his strength
11. San Diego Chargers – Kyle Long, OL, Oregon
Long got sick early in the week and missed two days of practice, but scouts were able to get what they needed from Kyle Long. He has the most athletic frame of any linemen here, moves extremely well and can play guard or tackle.
12. Miami Dolphins – Khaseem Greene, LB, Rutgers
Greene was all around solid in Mobile. He was able to show scouts all the same traits that made him the Big East Defensive player of the year. He’s a smart, instinctive LB with the ability to play downhill or drop into coverage.
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State
Poyer isn’t the fastest or most athletic corner, but he can play a lot of different coverages, including press corner. He always be in good position, displays good recovery skills and was tough to throw on all week.
14. Carolina Panthers – Jonathan Cyprien, S, Florida International
Coming into the week there were safety prospects who were much more hyped than Cyprien, but Cyprien is leaving Mobile as the big winner. He was the most physical DB, displayed good range in coverage and was the emotional leader of the North team all week.
15. New Orleans Saints – Brandon Williams, DT, Missouri Southern
Williams was a star this week. He’s like “a little ball of hate” Not overly tall but built like a boulder. He got great push all week, playing with leverage, power and surprising quickness.
16. St. Louis Rams – Jamar Taylor, CB Boise State
Taylor jumped out for his ability to cover down field and his recovery ability. He made a number of plays on the ball and displayed some of those quick twitch movements I love from corners. A secondary of Jenkins, Finnegan and Taylor would be sick.
